Sunday Sailing
Topper Star
Gresford Sailing Club has produced many top sailors over the years our latest is Elin who has progressed through the juniors, sailed with the seniors and is now off to the Topper World Championships in China 2018.

The Club’s long investment in developing GSC juniors is paying off for Elin.
Over the last 3 weeks Elin has been selected for:-
- Welsh National Topper Squad (5th Girl and 13th overall at Welsh Zone Championships)
- RYA Great Britain (GBR) Intermediate Topper Squad (24th Girl and 84th Overall, with a 12th place finish in one race, at Poole Selector National Series 1 Regatta)
- An ITCA travel grant to take part it the Topper World Championships in Shenzen China next August. This is one of only 100 ITCA grants issued for this event.
This would not have been possible without the foundations laid in GSC Junior Sailing and wider encouragement Elin has had from across GSC. Thank you all.
Part of the squad training will be developing Elin’s coaching skills. This she will be looking to feed back into GSC Junior Sailing over the coming years.
Harry Bainbridge
Harry who has been part of the Gresford Sailing Club from the early years has sadly passed away this weekend, our thoughts are with Mary and their family.
Harry has done so much for the club over the years and earned the respect of many,he has trained our juniors many of whom have become competent adult sailors,he has been a commodore and a treasurer.
Harry you will be missed by so many,it has been a pleasure to have known you.
Memorial Service at Trinity Presbyterian Church King Street Wrexham 11am on Friday 25th August.
New Jetty
Hi all as you probably know our left hand jetty has had its best years and this weekend came the time to replace it.
we purchased some surplus floatation from Bala S C. Work started with removal of the old jetty, then construct a new ramp then float out the new Jetty (having joined them together on the lake bank)
Then finally join the jetty to the ramp and secure in place.
Job done a massive thank you to all the members who gave up there time to get the jetty sorted. THANK YOU

BART’S BASH At The Flash

Well well well what a day we had. A great turnout for Bart’s Bash with quite a few boats staying on to do the afternoon racing.
Last year we had 22 boats and 24 sailors this year we had 20 boats and 28 sailors, so an improvement on last year I hope you will agree.
It was good for us to have the entire club represented at the Bash with people who normally only social sail to some faces we only see occasionally, it was good for us to have some of the members from the Model Boats coming along to show us how it is done from the bank side.
The overall winner in the senior class was Shan in her Mirror and Holly in the club Laser Radial just shows you don’t always need the fastest boat to win! Well done.
Remember the Flash is one of the few clubs that you can watch the whole race from the bank while you enjoy your cup of tea so please continue to support events at the Flash.
