Model Boats

Dragon Force

Gresford Sailing Club Model Boats is a group of friendly model boat enthusiasts who enjoy building and sailing all types of water craft. Model Boat sailing was first introduced to Gresford SC by our former Commodore and long standing Club Secretary Rod Evans in the early 2000s. It has grown to be one of the mainstays of the club resilient to low water levels and Covid.

We have about 12 Dragon Force 65 & 9 DF 95’s boats in our One Design racing fleet. These being the main boats used & raced. We also have about 6 International One Metre yachts & 4 Marblehead’s. Various other model yachts sail with us on a less competitive basis.

Detailed models of larger craft including Thai Long tails, life boats, tugs and warships also regularly grace the Flash.

We meet every Wed & Sat afternoon with racing in classes or mixed social sailing. Some of our members race at other venues with the Model Yachting Association. We also have a club boat for people to try out this sport.

    Hi All,
I am a model hovercraft enthusiast and currently have a 1 metre Griffon 2000 craft. I am looking for a suitable patch of water to fly/sail my craft. I am a member of the Model Hovercraft Association and am covered by their model engineering insurance. How much is your membership? And do you accept hovercraft on the lake?

Hi Dave, all would depend on noise level as we are a nature conscious lake. Definitely not any ic power. Come down on a Wed all day or Sat 2 to 4 (All day over winter). Looking fwd to seeing you.
